Motivation

I know this out of my normal geeky remit but i saw it and just had to share it

Netflix UK

Ok so the other day netflix was finally launched in the uk as a streaming device after hearing the wonders of this service for years but being in the uk i had never really had a chance to see it. until the other day when it was launched over here. ]

All I have to say is WOW this is awesome my only previous experience of streaming on my gaming console had been with lovefilms service which buffered….. every other sentance it felt however with this I have watched quite a lot of content already from 2 hour movies to 25 mins retro xmen cartoons and have to say that so far I have only encountered one part of buffering.

the amount of shows that were on offer is enough to start off with to keep me going for a while although i do hope they begin up loading more shows to it and if they manage to pull of a similar deal that they have in the usa with star trek on their i think i will explode with joy.

so in short I am very impressed with the service the only gripe i have on the xbox version is not being able to select and episode until im already watching one if that makes sense but as i say 9/5/10

Game of thrones season 2 ( a clash of kings trailer)

Bring it on, I know what happends as I have red the second book so im even more hyped for this come on you baratheons

55 days 11 hours 19 minutes

thats how long it will take me to complete all my unfinished games ( some of the games have already been started ) but even still its a rough figure according to the estimate that i got on howlongtobeat.com I know that this is absolutely mental and I do need to do something so from now on im going to try and limit my self to buying one new retail game a month ( birthday and Christmas doesnt count towards it ), to help me at least reduce this ungodly amount of 55 days,

By complete the game I am not going to include finding every item or doing 100% of side quests, Im going to try and beat the main story and then maybe any additional stuff dependant how I feel

At the moment I am playing through Saints Row 3, proberbly going to try and beat Halo reach / Call of duty black opps single player modes next.

Star Fox 64 ( Lylat wars)

 

Ok so of late I have been on a bit of A retro nintendo kick, so one of the games on the N64 that i brought on ebay was Lylat wars  ( star fox dependant on where you are from  ) , Anyway the game came through in the post today and Have been playing with it and even managed to get to the end of the Story mode.

Having played briefly the SNES version of the game I knew what to expect, However when i was playing this game I got to see how much of a leap it was from the snes version to the N64 it is really quite something the controls and gameplay are all good, to such an extent that I was hooked all afternoon playing on it, the gameplay and core mechanics of it where great and kept me hooked all the way to the end. The interactive map is back so you can pick and plot your own route to the end which is quite nice.

My main Criticism of this game however is the length of it, you can complete the main story mode ( which is as deep and meaningful as a cream cracker ) in such a short space of time, I guess this is meant to be one of those games that you complete but play time and again to beat you high score. I ended up beating the game in about 2 and a half hours and I think that’s including a shower I had. What I would have liked to see is that you could complete all the other levels after you have beaten the boss.

The levels I found to be quite fun and colourful with some variety to them so they didn’t just feel like you were doing the same thing over and over again which is very good for the player, however one of the more annoying things of the game has to be your allies or the rest of your squadron ( i dont know the technical term) these 3 charecter anoy the hell out of me now I know slippy gets a load of shit but hell the other charecters wound me up just as much, with their awful dialogue and needy nature.

So in conclusion it was a good fun game that kept me entertained but it was way way way way way to short for a game if I had paid the full RRP when it was released I would be a bit pissed but seeing as I got this for a few pounds it doesn’t feel as bad and also it feels like one of those games which you go back to to try and beat your high score. over all i;d give it a 7/10

 

 

New Doctor who series

Yes the new doctor who series or 6B or 6.5 or doctor who 6 and a half, or what ever counting system you have starts again next week on saturday.  Anyway bellow you will find a trailer for the new series and also a Prequal for the new episode lets kill hitler, looks like the doctor also has an answer phone.

these trailers looks well and truly epic i cant wait for the new series.

Olympic Tickets Rant

Ok so earlier on today I found o0ut that all the olympic tickets have been drawn today via the official draw in the UK. So I eagerly checked my emails to see if I wont but the box was empty ( well of decent emails) however then when checking my bank account I had found out I had paid £66 for the Olympics.

Now I am pretty excited to see the Olympics to come to London and was keen on getting tickets for the events and everything,  but for there to be a ticket draw and for there to be no communication between buyers and sellers is a joke. I am sitting here knowing that I have brought £66 worth of tickets not knowing what events I have won !!!!! I just found it a bit insulting for there not to be any form of communication telling me that I have won tickets it is just a bit of a joke. And I don’t know how long I have to wait till i do find out when and where I will be during the olympics. Oh well at least I have won about 3 tickets for it.

 

 

 

Games I Have been playing this week

ok this week I have found my self playing a few various games so here we go.

1) portal – when i first put in the orange box in the ps3 most peoples reaction I guess would be to go down the half life 2 route I on the other hand wanted to try Portal out, and played my way through it and loved it

2) Assassins creed brotherhood –  i Loved assasins creed 2 and played it a lot and almost got every trophy the only thing i didint get was every feather ( no great loss their then ), so the story line still carrys on from number 2 and it is great to be able to go around rome, it seems slightly diffrent to be in just one big city all the time rather than travelling between 2 or 3 villages, im glad they kept the elements where you can buy and renovate building and are able to create a financial empire, both of the story lines in the games are enjoyable.

3) Fifa 111 – see last week

4) Super mario RPG – I only downloaded this the other day and think that really I have only played about 40 mins of the game, but it seems good and enjoyable and I haven’t found my self getting lost around the mushroom kingdom pimping my self out to the local toads for the hope of a fireflower yet  or a map yet, which I always find is a plus when playing a video game.

 

WWE Smackdown V raw 2011

so to start this off I have brought every Smackdown game since they where first released on the ps1  way back, I have owned every single one of them and now i have brought 2011. Ok on a minor note in the uk we had a diffrent cover than the usa we had orton and Shamus on our cover instead of CENA and miz.

I have played the various game modes on this a little bit, ok to start off with road to wrestlemania the game tries to put you in the place of a few superstars in a tight story line however the storylines that i have played so far ( Jericho, Christian and the Undertaker one), I wouldnt have said that the storys where wrestlemania worthy and i often found this mode to be to boring in all honesty.

The other mode that has been hyped up this year has been the wwe universe mode I have tried this out a little bit and I have found it a bit confusing and trying to figure out what on earth is going on, maybe at the start of it having a tutorial, and then you randomly getting people trying to interfere in your matches that just confuses you as for the player you have no real idea what on earth is going on. even the instruction booklet doesn’t really have a lot  to say.

The game feels really poor for me as a player, the commentary is bad honestly its some of the worst cometary that I have ever heard in a game, their feels like their is no enthusiasm in the game just people reading scripted lines, the AI is hideous now i left it on the default setting for the first couple of times I have played it and in all honesty I have played about 35 matches and have not been pinned or attempted pin once hell i don’t know what i will be doing the one day i do get pinned , the AI is awful the sort that you can beat in 30 seconds,  ladder matches and hell and the cell improvements have just made them more boring,  As for the roster ok i know wrestling often changes and this year has been a quite remarkable year for the wwe but to not include NEXUS who have been on some form of wwe tv since april i think is idiotic, when the story line have been headlining the wwe for months is just annoying however some have been made for DLC, its still bizzare when the ECW arena and brand are playable but not nexus, however it still means we get Batista and Y2J.  also for the love of god tell me what I have to do to unlock items in the game dont just keep it a secret and ask me to look online and find out i have to do endless backstage brawls.

trying to think of the positives, well you can use your own music for CAW so they can come out busting a grove to lady gaga, and their is a large roster of user created content.  ph and if you buy the game new you can download a free chris masters and kelly kelly in a devils outfit  ( if thats not an incentive i dont know what is to play as the masterpiece )

In conclusion this is an awful game one of the worst smackdown games ever it is boring slow and irritating this franchise needs a radical over hall if they  are to make this a good game again their are so many other minor things that bug me about this game
