Torchwood usa coming to a tv near you soon

So the news broke today that fox with Russell T Davis are producing a usa version of torchwood. I just cant believe this i am in shock and wonderment it seems they have the whole original story crew etc but what the fuck. was it really that hard to show torchwood as an import will it have to be set in Arkansas what is it going to be a new branch or is it going to be were the missing torchwood 3 turns up are the charecters going to be direct ports or new characters are they just going to raid the large cast of the wire to get one or to token characters that all dramas being made seem to be going after 

and john barrowman might be the main character what other person can you possibly get that is camp enough and over the top enough to play cpt jack what oh you saying nicolas cage and eric roberts as the ianto jones character you reader are a deranged person fuck knows i sense car crash but then again im still going to watch this

does it really need to be remade why not just show the british one

Science Fiction TV in 2000’s – 2009 – Torchwood

So this is the show that started off so badly but by the year 2009 oh how it had changed,

The spin off from doctor who that started in 2006 soon grew to become a decent series in its own right 3 years later by the year 2009, the show had a very rocky start and was often viewed as an adult version of doctor who that just put certain bits in to try and say look hey we are after the watershed and the first series except for the occasional good episodes was criticised there was some moderate improvement for the 2^nd series however it was the 3^rd series that made torchwood stand out for its own merits and step out of the doctor who shadow.

When I first heard the news that the bbc was trying to compress torchwood to 5 episodes in the space of one week I was sceptical and was thinking perhaps this was a way that the bbc was trying to kill of cpt jack and his merry  band of alien hunters  with doctor who having a year off I thought that torchwood would at least have the centre spot, however when I saw the children of earth story I was amazed at how good it was and was left hoping they do a similar thing next year however since then it has been announced they have reverted back to the 13 episode series

The story about some alien menace trying to take over the earth using children was nothing revolutionary but the way torchwood did it made it breath taking the script was brilliant everything was great ,  and the serialized format of having an episode every night really dominated the schedule and the momentum of the previous nights episode kept building and building to the finale which was great. The show that was written off for so many years by critics had now produced an awesome blockbusting mini series that just takes your breath away

Another good thing about torchwood as opposed to doctor who was that they actually kill of characters people die ( except for Cpt jack)  and this makes this show a lot more realistic and you never do actually know who is going to live and die in the past 2 series 3 of the 5 main characters have been killed off one way or another when was the last time a companion died in doctor who ? so this can mean that the characters that you like generally will not be in any other episodes after they die properly. 

Overall if you have never seen torchwood before perhaps start watching it it doesn’t really matter what series you do start off with if over the top campness puts you off then perhaps avoid series 1 and start with number 2  but you should at very least watch series 3 ( the children of earht ) I think it is the best sci fi series of 2009 I didn’t think I would ever describe torchwood as being that good.

Torchwood – Children of Earth – Day Five

well the climax has come to torchwood and it had ended really well on a very good season,

the episode starts off in a similar maner to the series 2 finale with this time gwen giving the impression of the world ending and if anyone will ever see this is all very similar to rose at the beginning of army of ghosts saying hell im wose tyler and this is how the world ended, very russle T Davies although i do wonder why rhys video camera seems to only film in black and white

so we final see what the 456 want all the children for and it is for drugs yes children are there equivalent of crack, we see the realisation of this and the shock and horror of what this means, and the realisation that they have no way out of this deal the despair and desperation that happens as well as the military planing of it,

the scene in wales although the riot bit was good mainly for me finding it amusing that a group of random welsh people hanging round on a corner of a street can be so easily encouraged to start a riot , also i did like the bit were gwens police Friend pc andy takes off his armour and joins the riot although it makes no sense to remove what little armour you do have when figthing the military. although i thought the way they seem to get all the kids out of the house a bit far fetched

i found two scenes seemed to strike particularly well both of them involved deaths the first was poor mr frobishers death and killing his family and the way his assistant did the narration to it in the background i found rather good, also jacks son’s death was done particularly well with general sadness in the air of the tv and the areas that the tv effects.

the political ending was a bit ott with the woman who wanted to kill everyone from everywhere wanting to take over was a bit annoying, also the way the pms first response well that was a bit lucky was a similar vein of politicians were all evil

and what now for the future of torchwood i would imagine its ratings it has been getting would warrant another series, I imagine we will find out when russel t Davies is at the comic con in san diego to also announce, with Jack to be voyaging round the universe althoug i imagine he will turn up at some point in the first episode of the next series.

overall this has been the best torchwood series and i would say that it was easily better than doctor who series 4,

Torchwood – Children of Earth – Day Four

I think this was the best of the bunch so far i was amazed shocked and excited by this latest installment

so lets start with the main thing from this episode first Iantos death oh my god i so did not see that coming at all i was expecting cpt jack to transfer blood into him or something to make him come back to life but they killed him so this is the jack and gwen show if i was rhys i would be getting very very worried about now.

it was nice to see nick briggs aka the voice of the daleks to be the main Bald guy in government of mr green i wonder what that could be a pun on, who are evil and planning on getting rid of socially excluded people ( well there goes conexions neet targets i can hear them cheering already) the whole morally dilemma was a little cliched, we evil mp’s we save our own skins we then condem the rest of the world.

their were some many great scenes aka cpt jack and ianto shooting bullet proof glass when theirs a door round the side which they could have tried, also them walking into the building with guns in the air for some random reason going cpt jack ianto jones *guns slam on the desk* Torchwood

i loved this episode and was totally focused on it all the way through 9/10

Torchwood – Children of Earth – Day Three

And so this epic continues probably more relevant to the modern world than the news continues and i did enjoy this episode of Torchwood.

so the 456’ers finally arrive to say hello i liked the idea that they were kept in their gas fish tank i think this was a good move as i fear if we do see them they will look a bit pony it did strike me as a little bit Independence day like,

so we see a mini episode near the beginning of torchwood hustle were gwen steals breif cases ianto steals credit cards jack steals a sports car and rhys well he just gets in a fight to create diversions.

as for the episode its self i found the pacing quite good and fun and i have been like the sinister abillity of the aliens and the back plot with the 12 children from the 1960’s that cpt jack got aboard the spaceship, i hope they have a good explanation why they want the kids. how they found a replica cpt jack coat in such a short time is amazing.

overall a good episode i enjoyed it more than yesterdays

Torchwood – Children of Earth – Day Two

so here comes day two of the tochwood saga soon to be more epic than Star Wars

this episode seemed to be at more of a slower pace than yesterdays episode in terms of plot of knowing more about the aliens we dont much more apart from the fact they will be on tv tmo and they want a box with some deadly gas / which potentially they breath.

the episode seemed more about how team torchwood survived and were getting in place for the rest of the week. and it did proberbly fill john barrowman one episode per series were he is naked at some point it was kind of refreshing though to have an episode were he isnt in it much to give ianto and gwen a chance to have their characters developed although it was mainly about gwen and rhys and potato’s. I suppose with the armed raids on inatos sister house they were trying to make some point about terrorism.

this episode also had some of the worst shooting i have ever seen on tv from the first min to the end and how strong was that forklift thing ianto had ripped a room right off the building.

not as good as yesterdays episode but still a good episode to watch i would loved to have learnt a little bit more about the aliens/whatever they are

Torchwood – Children of Earth – Day one

yes the Torchwood series 3 saga begins with an entire week is dedicated to the show with a new episode each day climaxing on friday.

I enjoyed a lot of this episode although i do think it did sink in the middle when jack went to see his daughter and Grandson who still call him uncle jack A) BEcause he never ages and its an easy way to cover this up and B) Cpt jack is to damm cool to be a granddad, then we also see Ianto and his sister then some of the worst brick throwing i have ever seen the thing did not manage to move 1 inich pathetic. also for a top secret organisation they have kind of admitted everyone in wales knows of them and tells people to stand in the bay.

but on a more positive not we got a nice beginning to a story with out seemingly giving much away the characters that are going to be used were set up, i liked the idea of the mass children’s voice and the civil servant also i enjoyed the ending. One of the things i was wondering is who are these evil group could it be perhaps the forge ( an evil group in the doctor who audios big finish) or will they be someone knew maybe the Kandyman reborn

i didnt see the doctor being evil at all although i did figure out that jack had a bomb in him and he would use gwens part pregnancy machine part old scanner to see it why they didnt chose to use the zappy thing from series 2 that could take out things from within peoples bodies as seen in the first episode and Gwen’s wedding one.

Oh and if mr Frobisher turns out to be a shape shifting penguin like in the audios this will be awesome. also i see they explained martha not being in this series as originally planned by still working for UNIT and being on her honeymoon.

I think this is definitely one of the best torchwood episodes and this could be shaping up to be a really good series of it im glad i dont know much about it i only know one thing which i think judging by the trailer is in the next episode 8/10
